Speak up and help improve services in Northamptonshire

We all love the NHS, but let’s make it even better this year. Tell us about your experiences of health and social care, and the changes that you would like to see made locally, in our online survey. #SpeakUp2020
We all love the NHS, but it can't improve without your help

Last year we teamed up with Northamptonshire Health and Care Partnership to host a joint community engagement event and survey inviting local people to share their experiences and their Big Ideas for improving health and care services across the county.

People told us that access to services, information and communication, and personalised care were among their top health and care priorities.

People would like to see changes such as:

  • Better communication between services and better communication with patients/the public
  • Faster access to services, particularly GP appointments
  • Better support for specific conditions, especially for mental health

People also told us that they would like to see a single directory of local services, groups and activities that can support people’s health and care needs, to be accessible to all (not just online).

These priorities helped the development of the Northamptonshire Health, Care and Wellbeing Plan, which sets the future direction for all health and care organisations in the county, including hospitals, NHS services, GPs, local council services including public health, voluntary and community services and the Northamptonshire Health and Wellbeing Board. You can read how they continue to shape the county's health and care services in the Northamptonshire Health and Care Partnership monthly newsletters.

What now?

We're calling on more people to share their views and experiences with us. We all value the support that health and care services provide, but they need to continue to hear from the people who use them about how they can improve.

We want to know about your experiences at all stages of care, including:

  • How easy was it to access the help and support you needed?
  • What was your experience of care like?
  • How did you feel about the further treatment, care or support you were offered?

By taking just five minutes to speak up about what's worked and what can be improved, you can help future services improve care for you, your loved ones, and your community. It’s that simple.

How to get involved

You can share your views with us by:

Of course, if you would like to join in the conversation online to help us spread the message you can find us on Twitter and Facebook or join in with #SpeakUp2020.

“We want to encourage people to come forward and have their say about how local health and care services can best support them. Healthwatch Northamptonshire is keen to understand the experiences and concerns of service users locally, so services can continue to improve how they provide care.”
