Recent Coronavirus testing units drafted into Northampton in response to concerns over continuing high infection rates have received a great response over the last two days.

Infection rates in Kettering and Corby are also being closely monitored due to increasing trends over recent weeks. So across the county anyone experiencing even mild symptoms is being urged to book a test.

In response to increasing infection rates, mobile testing unites are being rolled out across the county.

In Northampton, public health officials arranged for mobile COVID-19 testing units to be deployed from Thursday 23 July through to Monday 27 July, enabling more local people to get a test closer to where they live.

In a move to ease access to testing, a walk-in mobile site was set up in Northampton Town Market square. We have seen a steady flow of members of the Northampton community who were able to access a walk-in test without an appointment. An appointment only drive-in site is available at the St Andrew’s Mobile Testing Unit.

Both Northampton testing sites will be available until Monday 27th July, with further provision being planned for the Northampton Market Square in the future.

Sites are currently being planned for Kettering and Corby. In Kettering a local testing site will be on line and available for testing on Thursday 30th July as both a drive-in and walk-in. This will be based at London Road car park, Kettering.

County residents are reminded that mobile units are only in a location for a few days and they have an integrated one-way system that allows people with an appointment to attend for either walk-in or drive-through testing.

Unless you are accessing the walk-in site above, people who may need at test are encouraged to book online at nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119. Home testing kits can also be ordered subject to availability.

For tests to be effective you must be symptomatic.
