Gluten Free Food Supply in Northamptonshire

Your feedback is sought by NHS England and Improvement about the prescribing of gluten free food by pharmacies in Northamptonshire.

The Gluten Free Food Supply is commissioned by the NHS in Northamptonshire. The service was originally commissioned when access to gluten free foods was not readily available to purchase from supermarkets/online and is not available elsewhere in the Midlands region.

Pharmacies and Dispensing Practices are paid a fee per patient for supplying gluten free breads and flour mixes.

The total cost of the service to the NHS was £317,646.36 for 2019/20 financial year.

People are being asked for their views on whether Pharmacies / Dispensing GPs should continue to provide gluten free food products at NHS expense within Northamptonshire.

This consultation will run from Monday 08 March 2021 until midnight on Wednesday 22 April 2021.
