Kate Holt, CEO of Healthwatch Northamptonshire said:

“We are extremely lucky to have someone as experienced as David leading Healthwatch Northamptonshire when health and social care both locally and nationally are going through such a period of change. I believe with his leadership the voice of local people will become even stronger in shaping NHS and social care services in Northamptonshire.”

David N Jones is currently also a member of the board of the British Association of Social Workers and Chair of its International Committee.  David was world President of the International Federation of Social Workers (2006-2010), is a Board member of the Commonwealth Organisation for Social Work and is still actively involved in international social work developments.  He has a doctorate for research into ways to evaluate the effectiveness of social work and has published books and academic and newspaper articles.

“I am pleased and honoured to be asked to Chair Healthwatch at this time of crisis in the county. I have had experience of health and social services in the life of myself and family; I know that services cannot do their best if they do not listen to people who use them. The reforms in local government and the health service in Northamptonshire cannot be driven in an exclusively top-down way. The voice of local people and especially those who use services must be heard. That is the mission of Healthwatch and I am determined to ensure that the organisation champions local voices confidently and effectively.”
