It is an exciting time for delivery of the Health and Social Care Agendas and it is important to give a voice to those who may feel disempowered in how they are able to access appropriate Services and their experiences of them when they do. Healthwatch provides an opportunity to give a voice to such persons by working with Health and Social Care Providers but also holds Organisations to account in fulfilling and meeting their Statutory Duties, moral and ethical obligations toward the people we serve, employ, treat and work with in partnerships.
I believe that I have much to offer and contribute in particular from the unique perspective of Black and Minority Ethnic people. My role as Board Member of Healthwatch allows me to be directly involved in helping to determine the strategic direction for Healthwatch Northamptonshire and the advancement of Health Equalities for the people of Northamptonshire. I possess a wealth and breadth of personal and professional lived experience spanning 29 years within the UK and North America, as a Registered Nurse, Policy Developer, Strategic thinker, Strategic Implementer, Developer and Analyst, Leadership Development and Equality & Inclusion Specialist.
I have experience of developing National Leadership and Development Events to gain feedback and input from a wide variety of audiences to directly address specific health and Inclusive Leadership issues. I have experience of initiating Local and Regional Development Networks within Higher Education and the NHS working collaboratively with Board Members, Executive Managers and thought leaders to influence decision making processes to deliver stretching and ambitious challenge and improvement to organisational behaviour and culture change.
