Healthwatch says thank you to volunteers who help to shape health and care in Northamptonshire
This Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June), Healthwatch Northamptonshire is looking forward to celebrating the work of our local community and promoting the valuable positive impacts volunteers have on our society.
Healthwatch Northamptonshire will be attending the Northamptonshire Community Volunteers’ Fair on Wednesday 5 June, 10am-3pm at the Market Square in Northampton.
We will be celebrating our hardworking volunteers and promoting volunteering and social action to members of the public. Our stand will provide information, support and guidance on how to get involved in volunteering, as well as the chance to participate in an interactive ‘Quick Poll’ about getting a GP appointment, an issue raised by both the public and our Healthwatch volunteers.
Our volunteers are part of a network of more than 5,000 people who are involved with Healthwatch across the country. Healthwatch Northamptonshire offers different volunteering opportunities for people who are keen to make a difference in health and social care, such as being a member of our Planning Group (a group that helps us plan and prioritise our work) or a Community Engagement Volunteer, and we have a Young Healthwatch group for volunteers between 11 and 24 years of age who are interested in young people's rights and wellbeing.
“I became involved because I wanted to be part of making changes in services to young people.” - Young Healthwatch Northamptonshire member
The work of Healthwatch volunteers contributes to our mission to ensure that people are at the heart of care.
